Lest We Forget – Honouring Remembrance Day

Dear UHEW Members,

As Remembrance Day approaches, we pause to honour and remember the brave women and men who have served and sacrificed for our country. Their courage and commitment remind us of the importance of peace, freedom, and solidarity — values that guide our work as a union every day.

Over the years, UHEW members across the federal and marine sectors have made significant contributions in support of our country. From serving in the armed forces, to ensuring the safety of our waterways, to maintaining Canada’s fisheries and oceans, your work reflects the same dedication and service that Remembrance Day celebrates.

We encourage everyone to take the time you need to recognize and support this important day. Whether it’s attending a local ceremony, observing a moment of silence, or reflecting quietly at your workplace, your participation helps honour those who have given so much.

On behalf of the UHEW leadership, we extend our gratitude to all members who have served and to the families who support them. Let us continue to stand together in solidarity, remembering their legacy and working toward a just, safe, and resilient future for our communities and the country we serve.

Lest We Forget.
