Dear Members,
As we move through November and December and prepare to close out 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on all that we have faced together this year and to look ahead to the opportunities and challenges awaiting us in 2026.
From coast to coast to coast, I have witnessed the dedication, resilience, and commitment of UHEW members who continue to make our union strong, vibrant, and united.
This past year has reminded us once again that our work is never done alone. Whether in my role as your National Equity Representative or as a fellow Canadian and member of the public service, I remain committed to standing with you—listening, advocating, and ensuring your voices are heard at every level.
We are living in unprecedented times. Potential reductions, organizational changes, and ongoing collective bargaining have touched us all. Yet these challenges also bring opportunities: opportunities to unite, to champion equity and inclusion, and to continue building a union that reflects the needs and diversity of every member.
Throughout 2025, I have actively participated in PSAC and UHEW conferences and events, submitted detailed reports to Council, and worked closely with Regional Vice Presidents to encourage member involvement in initiatives I have championed. I remain available to members across the country—whether through email, phone, or virtual meetings—and I welcome communication in multiple languages, including Indigenous languages. My commitment is to ensure every member feels included, represented, and informed.
As we enter the new year, let us continue to face challenges together, support one another, and embrace the opportunities to strengthen our union. Standing together, we are stronger—your voice matters, and every member counts. Together, we advance equity, protect our rights, and shape the future of UHEW.
Thank you for your ongoing support, your trust, and your commitment. I look forward to continuing this important work with all of you in 2026.
With solidarity and gratitude, Sonya Stronger Together, Represented Always.
