The Union of Health and Environment Workers (UHEW) is deeply concerned about the recently announced job cuts at the Public Health Agency of Canada. We believe that this decision by the Department flies in the face of the on-going needs of Canadians for quality, science-based support and guidance from the federal level. It also runs contrary to the Government’s stated intention to create jobs and opportunities for Canadians. We have spoken out publicly against this decision and will continue to do so.
- FAQ: Workforce Adjustment (PSAC National Website)
Our Component is actively engaged with the Department to ensure that all affected employees are fully protected under the Workforce Adjustment process and procedures. We will continue to meet regularly with Departmental officials to monitor this situation and encourage all UHEW members at PHAC to stay in close contact with your Local union representatives.
The Union of Health and Environment Workers will work tirelessly to ensure that the interests of UHEW members are protected during this process.
