Labour Canada Orders Fisheries and Oceans to address Maritime region workplace hazards

The Union of Health and Environment Workers welcomes the decision by Labour Canada to order the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to address the workplace hazards faced by Fishery Officers in the Maritime regions.

We believe that no worker should be forced to work in an unsafe or unhealthy situation. Fishery Officers deserve to have the necessary support and equipment to carry out their work on behalf of Canadians. We hope that the employer will abide by this decision and take the necessary steps to protect Fishery Officers who are carrying out very important work for the Canadian people.
