Each year on March 31, people around the world observe International Transgender Day of Visibility. This day recognizes the contributions, resilience, and experiences of transgender and gender-diverse people in our communities and workplaces.
It is also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of creating workplaces where everyone feels safe, respected, and able to be themselves.
Within the labour movement, unions such as UHEW and PSAC have long supported the principles of dignity, equality, and inclusion. These values guide our work to ensure that workplaces are free from discrimination and harassment, and that all members are treated fairly.
Recognizing this day reminds us that building inclusive workplaces requires ongoing awareness, understanding, and support for one another. Everyone deserves to feel valued and respected in their workplace.
Thank you to all members who help contribute to respectful and inclusive workplaces across our union and the public service.
